ACNE SCARS

Scars that form after acne clears are called acne scars. Scars usually develop if the acne was deep and painful or the breakouts are popped, squeezed or scratched or if there is a genetic predisposition. The scars can fade but rarely go away completely. Treatments help to diminish the appearance of the scars making them look smoother.

The various treatment options are:

MICRODERMABRASION

It is a minimally invasive resurfacing procedure used to treat uneven skin tone/texture, photoaging, striae, melasma, and scars including acne scars. It helps to exfoliate the skin giving a refreshed appearance.

MICRONEEDLING

DERMAROLLER

The Dermaroller is a hand-held device with a cylindrical roller equipped with medical grade solid steel or titanium microneedles. The device is used in a multi-directional fashion (vertically, horizontally, and diagonally) directly over the skin. Microneedling leads to the release of growth factors which stimulate the formation of new collagen (natural collagen) and elastin . In addition, new capillaries are also formed. Dermaroller treatment is done for treating Acne Scars, Wrinkles, Pigmentation and Hair loss. This technique is very effective in treating under eye dark circles when combined with PRP.

DERMAPEN

It is a micro needling device which penetrates the deeper layers of the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. The skin is oxygenated, lymphatic drainage activated, melanin production regulated, and collagen and elastin production stimulated resulting in smoother, even toned skin. The micro channels created by the derma pen can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper in to the skin. Acne and scarring, pigmentation, enlarged pores, ageing and sun damaged skin, stretch marks and fine lines and wrinkles can be treated with the dermapen.

MICRONEEDLING RADIOFREQUENCY (MNRF)

It is also called as collagen induction therapy. It uses fine needles with radiofrequency current to create controlled injuries. This triggers new regenerated cells to form, due to the skins healing response. There is boosting of collagen and elastin production which helps to smooth out the appearance of the skin. This is used to treat scars and acne scars, pigmentation, hair loss, sun damaged skin, and skin laxity. Sylfirm X is the world’s first pulsed wave and continuous wave radiofrequency microneedling system. It helps in treating melasma, redness, hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scars, skin laxity and open pores, promotes scalp circulation, reduces stretch marks and minimizes wrinkles.

CARBOXY THERAPY

It is the process of injecting carbon dioxide gas below the skin using a fine needle. This increases oxygenation and brings about improvement in facial wrinkles, periorbital hyperpigmentation, scars, and stretch marks.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA

PRP is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, meaning it comes from the patient’s own body, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that promote tissue repair, capillary formation and collagen production. PRP can be used in isolation or as an adjunct to other procedures.

PRP has shown to stimulate dormant hair follicles and hence promote new hair growth.PRP can treat wrinkles, photo damage and skin discoloration in conjunction with other treatment modalities.PRP combined with fractional laser resurfacing improves cosmetic appearance of scars. Micro needling technique is used to allow greater penetration of the PRP to minimize the appearance of scars and stretch marks and improve melasma.

SUBCISION

It is a technique used to release tethered bands of depressed acne scars. Once the fibrotic strands are broken, the upper dermal layer is released from the deeper fascia. If it is combined with PRP or hyaluronic acid fillers, additional benefit is gained, giving a smoother appearance.

CROSS TCA

The TCA cross is chemical reconstruction of skin scars using trichloroacetic acid. The acid is applied to the deepest portion of the acne scar tissue. This targeted injury, triggers a healing response, generating new collagen and elastin production.

LASER RESURFACING

FRACTIONAL CO2

This is a laser skin resurfacing technique. It causes controlled dermal damage which stimulates new collagen production and remodeling of scar tissue. Immediately following the procedure a sensation similar to a sunburn can be expected. Peeling of the dead skin from the treatment area lasts 5 to 7 days and the skin gradually looks smoother with long lasting results. It is used to treat acne scars, traumatic scars, stretch marks, keloids, vitiligo, nail fungus, pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles.

FRAC 1550 (ELLIPSE)

It is one of the newest skin resurfacing technology. The unique technology allows pulse time and energy to be set independently so that the amount of thermal damage can be controlled. It is used for the treatment of acne scars, stretch marks, surgical scars, fine lines and wrinkles.
