ACNE

Acne is a skin condition that happens due to plugging of the skin pores causing blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed pimples, pustules, nodules or cysts. They can occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. Although it affects teenagers the most, the disease is not restricted to any age group and adults in their 40’s or older can also develop acne. Factors such as family history of acne, hormones, certain medications, environmental irritants, stress, diet, may increase the risk for developing acne.

Acne can be disfiguring and upsetting to the patient. Untreated acne can leave permanent scars. Control of acne is an ongoing process and treating acne is important to avoid acne scarring. Various treatment options are available.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. In this treatment a chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes the skin to get rid of undesirable changes that may have taken place, like pimples, pigmentation, wrinkles etc on the face or any part of the body. Chemical peels are also effective in treating plane warts, fungal nails, and dandruff.

INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL)

This skin treatment also called IPL delivers high intensity pulses of light that heat the sub surface layers of the skin which stimulates the production of collagen or reduces melanin. It is referred to as photofacial and is not a laser treatment. It is effective in treating acne, acne rosacea, age spots, and also in hair removal.

CARBON PEEL

It is a laser treatment which helps with acne, enlarged pores, oily skin, and uneven skin tone. It is not a traditional chemical peel. Carbon solution and lasers are used to create a peeling effect. It requires no down time, and no chemicals are used.

LIGHT THERAPY

Light therapy is also called Photobiomodulation or Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT). It is a non -invasive light source treatment that emits no sound, heat, or vibration. It reduces the inflammation, promotes tissue regeneration, and prevents tissue damage. Blue light therapy helps to kill acne causing bacteria and also prevent future outbreaks. Red light therapy helps with fine lines, wrinkles, mild scars and hair growth. Green light therapy is used to treat hyperpigmentation and age spots.
