Sun Damaged Skin

Sunlight is necessary and can be used to treat some skin diseases but overexposure can cause sunburn, wrinkles, freckles, premature aging of skin, skin cancer, allergies and damage to the immune system. Sunscreens offer sun protection and work by absorbing, reflecting or scattering the sun’s rays and they are available as ointments, gels, creams, lotions or sticks to be applied about 20 minutes before going outdoors and reapplied every 2 hours.

Wrinkles are a natural part of ageing and most prominent on sun exposed skin. Pollutants and smoking contribute to wrinkling. Several treatment options are available to help smooth them or make them less visible

The Dermaroller is a hand-held device with a cylindrical roller equipped with medical grade solid steel or titanium microneedles. The device is used in a multi-directional fashion (vertically, horizontally, and diagonally) directly over the skin. Microneedling leads to the release of growth factors which stimulate the formation of new collagen (natural collagen) and elastin . In addition, new capillaries are also formed. Dermaroller treatment is done for treating Acne Scars, Wrinkles, Pigmentation and Hair loss. This technique is very effective in treating under eye dark circles when combined with PRP.

It is a micro needling device which penetrates the deeper layers of the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. The skin is oxygenated, lymphatic drainage activated, melanin production regulated, and collagen and elastin production stimulated resulting in smoother, even toned skin. The micro channels created by the derma pen can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper in to the skin. Acne and scarring, pigmentation, enlarged pores, ageing and sun damaged skin, stretch marks and fine lines and wrinkles can be treated with the dermapen.

It is also called as collagen induction therapy. It uses fine needles with radiofrequency current to create controlled injuries. This triggers new regenerated cells to form, due to the skins healing response. There is boosting of collagen and elastin production which helps to smooth out the appearance of the skin. This is used to treat scars and acne scars, pigmentation, hair loss, sun damaged skin, and skin laxity. Sylfirm X is the world’s first pulsed wave and continuous wave radiofrequency microneedling system. It helps in treating melasma, redness, hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scars, skin laxity and open pores, promotes scalp circulation, reduces stretch marks and minimizes wrinkles.

This is a laser skin resurfacing technique. It causes controlled dermal damage which stimulates new collagen production and remodeling of scar tissue. Immediately following the procedure a sensation similar to a sunburn can be expected. Peeling of the dead skin from the treatment area lasts 5 to 7 days and the skin gradually looks smoother with long lasting results. It is used to treat acne scars, traumatic scars, stretch marks, keloids, vitiligo, nail fungus, pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles.

It is one of the newest skin resurfacing technology. The unique technology allows pulse time and energy to be set independently so that the amount of thermal damage can be controlled. It is used for the treatment of acne scars, stretch marks, surgical scars, fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox is the brand value of an injection given in small doses in to muscles to correct specific problems. It blocks the impulses from the nerve to the muscles and hence relaxes the muscles.

Excessive sweating or Hyperhidrosis – The treatment works by blocking the nerve signals to the sweat glands making them inactive.

Hydradenitis Suppurantiva – The antisweat effect of botox in hairy areas reduces bacterial growth and this contributes to the efficacy of botox as an adjuvnant treatment mode in hidradermitis suppurativa.

Balding scalp has relative insufficiency of blood flow. Blood vessels travel through the muscles. Once botox relaxes the muscles, blood flow to the scalp increases thereby increasing delivery of the nutrients to the hair which in turn promotes healthier hair growth. This will work only if hair follicles are still alive.

This skin treatment also called IPL delivers high intensity pulses of light that heat the sub surface layers of the skin which stimulates the production of collagen or reduces melanin. It is referred to as photofacial and is not a laser treatment. It is effective in treating acne, acne rosacea, age spots, and also in hair removal.

Skin laxity is due to progressive loss of skin elasticity and deepening of skin folds which is due to loss of collagen.

The non-ablative radio frequency procedure stimulates collagen and elastin formation by increasing the tissue temperature. The results are temporary but it works on all skin types and can be used for face, neck, arms, hands and body contouring. Infrared light can be combined with bipolar radio frequency to remodel the deep dermal layer of the skin.

HIFU uses concentrated waves of ultrasound energy to remodel/body collagen and tighten body tissues. It gives lift without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver energy at optimal depths. It uses ultrasound imaging which allows us to see the layers of the tissue being treated ensuring that energy is delivered safely to where it is most beneficial. Initial effect is seen right after treatment and keeps improving over 2-3 months, gradually lifting and tightening skin on the face and neck and smoothing skin on the chest. It is also used for tightening and contouring body parts. It helps to treat under eye area and double chin.

As we age, our body starts to lose the collagen which cause volume loss and laxity. Skin becomes thinner, loses its elasticity and starts to sag. Softening of facial lines and restoration of fullness in the face can be achieved non surgically with injectable fillers.
