After graduating from the prestigious Madras Medical college, she chose to specialize in aesthetic medicine. One of the pioneers in the field of fillers and injectables in India, Dr.Maya trained all over the world- Cleveland clinic USA, London, Rome, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai & Spain. She is the recipient of Prof.A.G.Thambiah gold medal for proficiency in dermatology. She held the post of president of the Tamilnadu branch of the Indian Association of Dermatologist, Venereologist & Leprologist (IADVL) between 2020-2021 & post of vice president of the Cosmetic Dermatology Society of India (CDSI) between 2006-2008.

Dr.Maya has widely published in the field of dermatology with over 53 academic papers in national and international journals as well as book chapters in 15 books. She has a keen interest in imparting knowledge and runs a post-doctoral fellowship program in aesthetic dermatology at her centre, catering to the needs of upcoming dermatologists. She stays current & updates her medical and cosmetic knowledge, so that her patients can get the most informed consultation. She enjoys meeting patients, understanding their needs and helping them achieve their goals whether they are to address a medical issue or improve an aesthetic concern
